Cheryl Lucas, and Why This is a Car and Not an Office
Daytona born and raised, six years working for an attorney, and nine years now driving Volusia County with a notary stamp and a clipboard.
How This Started
I spent six years as a legal assistant for an attorney here in Daytona. That’s where I learned what a document has to look like to be worth anything, and what happens to a family when it’s wrong.
The business itself started in a hospital. My Google listing was set up by my son. It has been running nine years since and it has never had an office, because an office would be the opposite of the point.
Why Mobile
Because the people who most need a notary are usually the people who can least easily get to one. Someone in a hospital bed. Someone caring for a parent who can’t be left. Someone with no transport. Someone in custody. Someone whose closing is in two hours and whose notary just cancelled.
I’m not sitting still. I never have been. That’s why the business works.
What I’ll Tell You Honestly
- I’m a commissioned notary public. A notary isn’t an attorney, so bring me the paperwork and I’ll notarize it. Writing it’s an attorney's job.
- Everything I do is in person, face to face.
- If I can’t help, I’ll say so on the phone rather than drive out and bill you for the trip.
- If you’re struggling, tell me. I’d rather do the job than win the argument about the fee.
